Avista Cafe Pizzeria

“One of the nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.”  Avistar in Spanish means a Captivating sight, an apt name derivation for this hidden gem located in the booming district of Kalyan Nagar, it is a great place to hangout with friends and surpasses expectations. Opened just a few months ago, Avista takes pride in its Italian Cuisine staying undeterred soaring high through its remarkable dishes and elegant decor while others around dwell into insignificance due to cutthroat competition.

Food- To begin with the Roasted Bell Pepper Soup was superb. Rich  and creamy followed by some appetizing starters. Impeccable Quality. Impressive Presentation.

The Honey Chilli Potato, Mushroom Caps, BBQ Chicken Wings and Grilled Peri Peri Chicken sausages were fantastic. Marinated well and perfectly done. But the Bruschetta was average and can be improved.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Burger was incredible. Highly recommended. Soft bread, succulent chicken and generous use of cheese. Real Explosion of flavors that excite the palate and bring a smile.

I relished the brilliant in-house Fettuccini pasta. Right taste, spice, thickness and texture. The Peri- Peri Chicken Pizza was outstanding. Fresh with delicious toppings making a fabulous treat.

The Fish & Chips and grilled chicken breast served with mashed potatoes and vegetables was excellent. Flawlessly cooked, it can match the preparation by any 5 star restaurant chef.

Desserts were indeed exceptional and extraordinary.  The Mango Panna Cotta deserves  a special mention. It was wiped clean off the plate in a few seconds and we couldn’t stop ordering more. My other favorites were Nutella & Nuts Pancakes, Red Velvet Cake, Maple Syrup & pecan Tart as well as Walnut Brownie. Each one of these are what sweet dreams are made of. It can surely create midnight cravings and provide heavenly bliss. Happy Ending to an extremely hunger fulfilling and tummy satisfying Sunday Brunch. (8/10)

Sharief Bhai, Koramangala

Nothing is more apt for this review than The tagline of My Blog The FOOD ADVENTURE which says “An Expedition of exploring different restaurants is an exuberant and mesmerising gastronomical journey. The joy of seeing culinary masterpieces is heavenly bliss”. There are just a handful of  places which meet expectations but this has surpassed it all and has set a standard that cannot be beaten. This newly opened restaurant is a master in Authentic Traditional Muslim Cuisine. Each dish on the menu has a seperate distinguished taste and a different preparation technique. Variety of options to choose from. All recipes belong to Ms. Falak, wife of Mr Sharief  that have a unique personal touch. Thanks to them Ramzan Special Delicacies are now available all year around. All ingredients are fresh, some ground in house. For me it was a moment of nostalgia reminding me of my Grandmother’s passionate cooking.
Food- Starters are Incredible.  Impeccable Quality. Impressive Presentation. The Paya Ka Salan and Murg Marag soups not only have an Appetising aroma but also excite the palate. Patthar Gosht is fantastic. Slowly cooked on a stone slab to perfection that melts in the mouth. One of my favourite. Shami Kebab is outstanding. Stuffed with piquant minced meat and egg, it is crispy and provides an explosion of flavour. Highly Recommended. Prawns and Teetar (Quail) Fry were Excellent. Juicy,  Soft and well marinatinated making it exceptionally good. Sukki Phaal or lamb chops are splendid. Superb masala, Tender and flawlessly grilled. Chapti Murg is phenomenal. A typical street food. Fabulous Fried Chicken Pieces on a stick dipped in spice with a scrumptious outer covering.
The other top notch dishes that I relished and deserve a special mention are  Tandoori Kebab, Gurda Kaleji and Bheja Fry. The brain mixed in pepper seasoning was the best I’ve ever eaten. Literally!

I the main course, Gravies such as Khurma, Nalli Nihari and Cutt Kofte Ande had the right Right texture, thickness and spices giving it a brilliant taste. Lavish yet light. What a quintessential Muslim Home Curry should be like! Goes Great with paratha.

Chicken Biryani is Hyderabadi Style in long basmati rice. I absolutely loved the remarkable Bangalore Style Mutton Biryani in small ‘Zeera Samba’ rice. Flavourful layers of rice cooked in succulent meat that imparts an essence to the masala.
Apshoola Lime Drink and Sulemani Chai are nice and refreshing. For Desserts, Indian Sweets were a true delight. Muzaffar was extraordinary. Made of rice, it was rich, creamy and had generous amount of nuts adding to the crunchiness. Matka Phirni is terrific. Halwe ki poori made with ghee was so delicious and irresistible that I burned my Mouth with the hot khawa.  However fish is average and can be improved. (9/10)
Service- Exemplary. Wonderful Hospitality. Staff make you feel comfortable with their royal treatment. Waiters are polite, courteous, attentive, efficient, knowledgeable and well trained. However the prawns were ordinary. Really greasy, salty and should be improved. Butter chicken was average. Just a regular neglected Gravy. Paneer Tikka was bland. Though Biryani lacked the tempting aroma, it wasn’t bad.
 ……
There is no incredible or exceptional factor in the dishes that can create cravings which bring back a customer. For desserts, Cheesecake was quite decent. My fellow foodie friends said that the freshly brewed beers were excellent.  Alas! I don’t drink so wouldn’t be the right person to talk about it. (6/10)

Service- Slow and a little disappointing. Staff is polite and courteous. Wonderful Hospitality. But the waiters need to be better trained so that they can become more efficient, quick and attentive in future. The person taking the order should have some knowledge about the menu. Preparation time takes really long. Coordination is missing. Mall Basement Parking is available (5/10)

The Konkan

“Food Adventure is a mesmerising and exuberant journey. Chefs are artists who always surprise and surpass expectations with their masterpieces”

As the name suggests, Konkan is a new restaurant serving Coastal Maharashtrian and Mangalorean Cuisine, which has the future potential to become the most preferred in the category. It is located in the heart of Namma Bengaluru on MG Road. Some restaurants are stars that we love to keep visiting while some have incredible dishes make us come back craving for more.

Jus’ Trufs

Before diverging into the review let me tell you the amazing story behind this place. It is started by a group of independent women entrepreneurs pursuing their passion for baking. Chenddyna, one of the co-founders is a trained chocolatier who has done  professional courses abroad.  She had also been selected by a renowned Financial Services Company for their CSR Program of empowering women entrepreneurs.  Today it employs around 40 people and is extremely successful in becoming a well known brand. They support the local farmers and Make In India Ideology by Replacing Belgium Chocolate with Karnataka grown Cocoa Beans and have an in house processing unit.

Located in Jakkur around 10 kms away from the Restaurant Hub Of Kammanahalli. The reason this area was ideal for the cafe to come into existence as the owners stay in the area close by. There is hardly any competition around and the vicinity really needed a sophisticated eatery.

It was a superb drive or a magnificient short journey. You might hear a citizen of Namma Bengaluru saying this for the first time in years. I was overwhelmed to notice Transaction of passing from an urban to rural area. Vast buildings have been replaced by tiny houses. Not entirely though. Developments have expanded beyond outskirts and there is a lot of construction. As for the greenery, it’s pretty much the same as anywhere in the entire Garden City. The difference I loved is Relief from heavy traffic, noise pollution and an escape from the busy hustle bustle of main town.

Food- The Hot Chocolate shots were fantastic. Literally liquid goodness meant to be given as a welcome drink in paradise. French fries accompanied with the Exceptional dip was incredible. Spicy chocolates are a trend. It was a pleasant surprise to to see jalapeño and white chocolate sauce mix. It became an addiction and was stopped only after the bowl was wiped clean. Mini bite size sliders like Bombay Street wich and Cool Chick wich are fabulous and can become anyone’s favourite. Chilled Chocolate Fudge Milkshake is outstanding. It is indeed ‘life changing’ and what a true authentic chocolate drink should be like. Learning lesson for those people who disgrace it by mixing some random chocolate powder in milk. Pizzas are remarkable. Delicious topping, Succulent chicken, soft, melt in the mouth base and four different cheese including Mozzarella, Cheddar and Parmesan whose texture and colour can be clearly distinguished. Sandwiches were brilliant. Impeccable layers filling. Iced Tea was exquisite and refreshing.  Baked Cheesecake is great if your palate is accustomed to the tangy flavour.  And Of Course finally saving the best for the last, the chocolates pralines, truffles and bars are phenomenal.

The smoked Chicken burger is their best seller. However I didn’t like it because of the sauce, messy topping and weird taste. Pasta is average and can be improved. It was very thin more like Chow Mein rather than spaghetti. Grilled fish was ordinary and could have had more spice and better marination. (6/10)

Service-Excellent Hospitality. Staff is courteous, polite, well trained, efficient and quick. Preparation may take slightly longer because everything is made fresh from scratch as per order. Splendid personal touch by the owner. The Abridged Tour of the process was a Wonderful experience. I was acquainted with the various steps right from cocoa bean to nibs to molten chocolate to tempering.  I enjoyed the thrill of getting my hands dirty and actually making chocolate. Parking available in a ground beside. (8/10)

Ambience  Simple design yet attractive decor. Relaxed and lively environment. A homely and cozy atmosphere with a spectacular display of marvellous chocolates and impressive desserts. Nice ventilation and natural light. Beautiful posters. The entire building is owned by Jus Trufs with a processing unit on one floor, office on the other and also an Event hall on the terrace. The cafe is on the ground floor with a small seating capacity of around 25. Comfortable chairs. Regular square wooden tables. A huge sign board is quite prominent and can be easily spotted from a distance. (7/10)

Pricing-Moderately High. Food menu is economical and pocket friendly. The Chocolate Tour might be a little bit expensive but definitely is worth the amount with value for money because  you get a lot of knowledge about history of chocolate and is interesting to see how a cocoa fruit is completely transformed into a sweet delight and also a live demo of practically making chocolate. Budget constraint should not be a reason for you to miss this. The cost of exemplary homemade chocolates are in par with most other places and is affordable.  Will surely come back again craving and hungry for more. (8/10)

The spice and crunchiness was perfect. Kasundi Chooza was incredible due to the stuffing of minced meat and marination. There is a Platter of dips/ sauces or chutneys to choose from. Though Looks of the sheek kebab can be deceptive, taste is top notch.

Chaats and pav bhaji was splendid and deserve a featured mention. The speciality stalls were exciting and the best of the evening. Balti Keema Roll Was phenomenal.  Pind de Kukkar Chicken is a dish which can create midnight cravings.

Main Course was exquisite and displayed magnificently. Mutton Biryani was tempting, no doubt delicious with the aroma of basmati rice layered with tender meat and masala. Non veg Gravies were superb. The ideal richness and texture is a quintessential example of what a typical Indian Curry should be. Malai Prawns was the star and won over the others. Makki di Roti was exceptionally good. Soft and fluffy.

Desserts are brilliant. No matter how full you are there is always a place for it. Whether you have a sweet tooth or not, the only words on your lips will be of praise. My Favourites were the hot, fresh & crispy Jalebi with Rabri and Customised premium Cold Stone ice cream mixed with different toppings to experiment, creating something new and bringing back childhood nostalgia.  Couldn’t stop eating the Chocolate Pudding.

Fish was ordinary and should be improved. Galouti Kebab was average and can be better. (8/10)

Ambience- Spectacular Design, simple and elegant decor. Marvellous view of the open glass kitchen. Amazing lighting. Beautiful outdoor terrace seating option. Comfortable sofas.Spacious arrangement with tables separated by dividers. Great Punjabi songs. Central air conditioning. Impressive Layout of live counters and buffet.  Terrific Statue and artefacts at the entrance. There is a spinning wheel as an attraction that get you discounts or gifts.  (7/10)

Service- Wonderful hospitality. Courteous and polite staff dressed in traditional clothes. However something is missing that can provide an exemplary fine dining experience. Waiters need to be more knowledgeable and better trained for quicker service. Efficiency can be worked on and improved. Organisation is commendable, doubt whether I can say the same about planning. Reservation Recommended. Hotel Valet Parking available.  The memory of the person  going around on a cycle serving lassi in matkas is still vivid and brings a smile. (6/10)

Pricing- Relatively High. At 999 + tax, it’s a little bit on the expensive side. Not very pocket friendly but considering the impeccable quality, unlimited menu, fabulous choices and the fact that it’s a four star hotel; there is value for money. An enjoyable experience overall. I would definitely recommend this place and will surely visit again. (6/10)

The Globe Grub

I begin by quoting myself ”Food Adventure is a mesmerising and exuberant journey. Chefs are artists who always surprise and surpass expectations with their masterpieces”. An all you can eat concept has taken over the culinary industry in the past few years where starters are served are on the table with a splendid buffet spread for main course along with live counters and dessert booths. The Globe Grub is another new gem that has emerged in this restaurants category. I say this because a gastronomical experience is not just defined by the food but every other minute detail right from ambience, service, etc. As its name suggests, multiple cuisines from across the world are offered. Just a few months old and located in the booming locality of Marathahalli, it has done well in establishing itself through the competition.

Food-  Excellent Variety.  Appetizers are fantastic. Crispy Schezwan Prawns were remarkable with an explosion of different flavours on the palate. Mongolian Style Dimsums were phenomenal. The outer layer of the steamed momo was soft and stuffing delicious. Makhmali Afghani Tangdi Kebab was sumptuous and succulent. Crumb fried stuffed Mushroom balls were incredible with molten Cheese oozing out at every bite. Yes, it is coming from me: a person who is not at all a fan of mushrooms.  Jugalbandi Mutton & Chicken Sheek Kebab was impeccable with an authentic taste of Old Delhi.

Butter Chicken Gravy is outstanding. Perfect richness & texture. The adequate thickness and blend of spice in Udaygiri Anda Masala is a quintessential example of what a great egg curry looks like. Indian Breads: Naan was spot on and deserves a special Mention. One Unique feature that this place takes pride in is that all dishes are prepared fresh from scratch for every meal unlike others where most of the initial cooking is done beforehand and kept ready. It has concentrated on all 4 courses ( including salads) and is different from the common trend who only focus on starters and finishers ignoring the rest.

As finishers, Desserts are brilliant. Right from delightful Indian sweets like Carrot Halwa, rasmalai and Gulab Jamun to Continental Favourites such as pastries, tarts and of course who doesn’t love Ice Cream?  One thing missing is that one exceptional signature dish that will creating cravings causing people to keep coming back hungry for more. Mocktails are average and can be improved. Pizza was ordinary. (7/10)

Ambience- Classic and elegant design. Beautiful Black ropes decor. Spectacular Posters with interesting quotes. Marvellous Lights. Amazing atmosphere with loud music, spaced out and comfortable seating arrangement along with a nice impressive layout. Fabulous Black Colour Brick Walls with White flooring complementing the lovely wooden furniture. But temperature control can be better. (8/10)

Service- Waiters are courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Wonderful Hospitality. However service must be faster: more efficient and quick for a superb fine dining experience. Valet Parking Available. (6/10)

Pricing- Economical. Pocket friendly with Value for money. Priced at around 600, its is relatively lesser compared to others and is a feast for the tummy as well as a treat for the eyes. (7/10)

Jalsa

Jalsa means enjoyment/ amusement and is definitely true to its name. A celebration of North Indian or Mughlai Cuisine through its decor and food. Located in Outer Ring Road Marathahalli it is worth traveling the distance.

Food- Milk based mocktails are splendid and refreshing. Multani Paneer tikka was excellent. It was marinated well and was stuffed with cheese and green ‘chutney’. I loved the superb covering of the Bharwan Khumb which is mushrooms. Bhindi kurkure was appetising. It is batter fried ladies finger.  An ideal snack to start munching on while waiting for the other delicacies.

Khandari Chicken Tikka was incredible. It was perfectly grilled in ‘tandoor’ making it succulent, soft, also imparting flavour and spice that sink in right to the last bite. It’s their speciality and highly recommended. Impressive Presentation. Kalmi Kebab was fantastic and its ingredients excite the palate. Butter Chicken or Murg Makhani is outstanding. Dal Makhni is remarkable. Richness, Texture and Taste of both was exemplary.  Mutton Rogan Gosh is brilliant. It was cooked impeccably causing the delicate pieces of lamb to peel of the bone. Awadhi Style Murg Dum Biryani is quite decent. It has a tempting aroma of basmati rice emanating from it and tender meat soaked in its masala. Delightful desserts. My favourite is the Homemade Kulfi.

However Chilli Garlic Prawns were ordinary. Not very fresh. Mutton Sheek Kebab was nothing great can be improved. Taste was fine but it was rubbery.  (7/10)

Ambiance- Marvellous Mughal Architectural Palace Design. Beautiful wallpapers that gives a feeling of royalty. Spectacular chandeliers. Nice Colours. Elegant furniture. Amazing window carvings. Well spaced out and comfortable seating with cushions. It’s a little bit hot as air conditioning is not that effective. There is adequate Privacy because of individual private tables separated by screens. Exuberant Decoration. Quite and calm atmosphere. (7/10)

Service-  Average. Waiters are courteous and well trained. However service is slow. Dishes take a long time for preparation. Different plates for veg and non veg. Ample Parking available in the premises. Hospitality was top notch. Props such as turbans and swords are provided to take photos like a real king. (6/10)

Price- Moderately High. Mid Range. Neither too expensive nor too pocket friendly. There is value for money. A quintessential fine dining family restaurant. Wonderful experience overall. Will surely visit again. (6/10)

Chai Galli

We are always looking out for Substantial and Sophisticated snacks to binge on in between meals. Chai Galli is a great option. Most restaurants are opened only during specific times for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Many a times, we do not want proper dishes of appetizers or main course but something quick and light yet satisfying during the evenings. It is hard searching for cafes and other places serving food throughout the day that fits within budget. A coffee lover is spoilt for choices with the presence of international brands like Starbucks, Barista etc in every locality. Nevertheless Research shows that on average, Indian Consumers prefers tea more than coffee compared to our Western Counterparts. We do spot huge rush outside local tea shops that have started from nothing and are booming.  I am glad to see wonderful outlets like this picking up the needs of people by offering ‘Chai’ and doing well competing with the big players selling ‘Kaapi’.

Food- Peach Icetea, Cold Coffee is superb and refreshing. Garlic ‘Khakra‘ is brilliant. Cheese Vada Pav was fantastic with the right spice and filling. Corn Shots is Incredible. It’s basically a crispy shell made of flour also called ‘puri’  stuffed with goodness. Chole Kulcha was outstanding with a nice flavour and soft bread. Simple Margarita Pizza is excellent. Can match any thin crust pizza from high end Italian restaurants. Takde Waali Maggie was remarkable. With different variety of numerous States specialities on the menu from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Everyone will literally find their cup of tea here irrespective of whether you like Masala, Cutting, Mumbai or Rajastani Chai. (7/10)

Ambience- Amazing. Spectacular 1970’s theme. Takes you down memory lane. Marvellous Posters of top hit Bollywood films. Beautiful Photos of traditional chai wallas. Innovative and unique Lights in tea glasses, bicycle wheels and kettles. Impressive jars and artefacts arranged in a shelf. Comfortable and spacious seating. Air Conditioned. A mix of Old and new Hindi songs playing in the background. Newspaper cuttings and Articles on table. Bright mismatch coloured chairs, benches and stools.  Painted sheets as the roof. (8/10)

Service- Splendid. Fast, courteous and efficient staff. But the hospitality can be more welcoming. No valet facility or parking arrangement. However it may not be difficult finding a spot as there is a lane on the opposite side which is quite free compared to the hustle bustle of the main street. (6/10)

Pricing- Moderate/ Economical. Certain items are Pocket friendly. Some might be a bit expensive with not much value for money. Overall a delightful experience. A perfect place to chill and hang out with friends. (7/10)

Smaaash: Mighty Small

Fun, Frolic, excitement and entertainment are words that define Smaaash.  Located in the posh 1 MG Mall, it is a must visit for some recreational activities and an escape from regular mundane work life. They have phenomenal virtual reality attractions apart from some exemplary video games that brings back childhood memories. My favourite picks are the exceptional Cricket arena, Bowling Alley, Jurassic Ride, Vertigo, ferrari ride and Roller Coaster.

Food- The new menu had some delightful dishes. Starters were appetizing. But I did not enjoy the soups or salads. Impressive Presentation. Pyaaz Kachori was fantastic with infusion of tangy and sweet flavours. Pizza Pockets was incredible because of the nice filling and cheese bursting out at the first bite. Chicken and Onion pakora was outstanding as it was perfectly marinated and fried giving it great texture, crunchiness and spiciness. Hot basil fish was average. Though the ‘basa’ tossed in Chinese sauce was soft, it didn’t taste very fresh.  Chicken Basket is ordinary. Just regular crumb fried chicken with mayo. Spicy Chopper Rice was remarkable. An elevated version of fried rice mixed with succulent pieces of chicken and abundant vegetables topped with fried egg. Potli biryani wrapped in Rumali Roti was excellent. Despite not authentic Hyderabadi ‘Dum’ Style, it was something unique. Mocktails are refreshing and made well.  Walnut brownie was brilliant with generous use of chocolate sauce and nuts. Other Desserts can be improved. (7/10)

Ambiance- Amazing White and red Carnival Theme. Bright colors and lovely lighting. Marvellous layout of gaming machines right from the entrance to outside the dining area on the first floor. Spectacular design. Beautiful Wallpapers. Spacious Arrangement. Comfortable seating. Exuberant Atmosphere. (8/10)

Service- Gaming Zone service is splendid. Wonderful Welcome and Superb hospitality. Courteous Staff. Restaurant Service is a little slow. Waiters need to be more quick and efficient. Mall Basement Parking Available. (6/10)

Pricing- Moderately High. Keeping in mind that this is not a fine dining restaurant, it is a bit expensive. However it is meant for comfort food or a quick snack to keep hunger attacks in control while experiencing the games and may be pocket friendly for their target audience that is mainly college/ corporate crowd. Nevertheless, Quality as well as quantity is impeccable. Food can be ordered separately as ala carte. There are Different Packages for gaming, starting at 499 and all access at Rs. 699. (7/10)

Delhi Highway

Nothing is more apt for this than the tagline of my page which says “The joy of seeing culinary masterpieces is heavenly bliss’. Despite Being a hardcore meat Lover, Delhi Highway is a Vegetarian Restaurant that I really loved.  Located in Indiranagar, the hotel hub or food Paradise of Bangalore, Delhi highway has established itself in par with the competition . For few bloggers even little things matter to make a significant impact on the review while others ignore minute details and yet all of us who have been here, the delights crafted by the chef have harmonised all our opinions into praise with no regrets whatsoever. The excellent variety puts you in a dilemma for choice. Dedicated to all my followers who who had asked me what my favourite veg restaurant was and requested me to publish more articles more about the ones with only a green dot symbol. This Place has more sophisticated and elevated versions of the popular local food found in numerous eateries on the highways of Delhi.

Food- Let’s begin with the splendid starters. Stuffed cone shape Masala Papad  is served to munch on while we wait. Tomato and fresh basil Shorba follows to build up appetite. Both marination and filling was exemplary.  Cheese Aloo Tandoori was outstanding. The generous covering of cheese made the grilled potato better. Nice Plating.  Tandoori Baby Kulchas is incredible. Stuffed with mozzarella, it is soft and delicious that melts in your mouth. The garlic and herb butter accompanying also take credit in making it brilliant. Easily one of the best Mini Breads I’ve ever had.  Highly Recommended. Main Course was served on an amazing Thali which has different flavours to excite any palate. Pindi chanawas splendid. The first bite immersed me into imagining that I was actually eating in the capital City or somewhere in North India.  Thoroughly Relished the extraordinary Dal MakhaniPaneer Lababdar was exceptionally good. Ghee Rice was remarkable. A  special mention of Sizzling Matar Kulche for the uniqueness and audacity due to the boldness of spice. Kadai Pasta was phenomenal. A Perfect fusion dish having the Indian ‘Tadka’.  For dessert, Hot and crispy Jebali with  Thick and creamy Rabri topped with almonds was exquisite. However some items such as Broccoli & Pesto Tikki and Kabuli Kebab were terrible, more like a spoiler. Achari Paneer Tikka can be improved.  The mocktail beverages can also be worked on a bit. (7/10)

Ambience- Appealing glass exteriors for those who judge a book by its cover. The name is quite prominent making it easy to spot. Grand Entrance. Spectacular interiors and antique furnishing. Modern contemporary layout with a traditional royal feel. Marvellous design/ decor comprising Arches that are an essential feature of mughal architecture. Beautiful wallpapers and wooden carvings. One of the biggest and most beautiful microbreweries in Bangalore, Hoot is a perfect place to unwind and get into the party mood.  Spread over a large area, it has 3 floors out of which one is exclusively for corporate events. Despite having a huge seating capacity of 900, this place is always crowded with people waiting to get a table especially on weekends. Located quite far on Sarjapur Road but it is worth the drive.

Fattoush

Two quick questions dear readers:

 1. Fire and wheel are considered primitive man’s best invention. I feel Grilled meat should be on the list. Do you agree?

2. What comes to your mind when you think of the word ARABIA?  Different People have different perceptions about things. USA might think of how it can extract its oil, some may think of its spectacular mosques while others may think of it’s women who are not allowed to drive. However I think of where to find the authentic Middle Eastern delicacies as for me food comes first and everything else is secondary.

This Wonderful Multi Cuisine restaurant has become my favourite lately. There are three sections in the menu offering varied courses in Arabian, Chinese and Indian. Located on Bannerghatta Road opposite IIM. It might be far. However distance shouldn’t  be an hinderance as  journey is worth it.

Food- Excellent. Fantastic slush based Blue Orange Mocktail. Cold and refreshing on a warm summer afternoon. Splendid Soups. Butter Garlic prawns were flavourful. Though Sesame Chicken Strips were soggy, it was delicious. Stupendous Desserts. Sulemani Chai was extraordinary. However Mocktails except Blue Heaven are below average and need to be worked on. (8/10)

Ambience- Amazing. Comfortable wooden chairs. Beautiful outdoor terrace seating overlooking MG Road as well as indoor option available. Great lighting. But No AC. Marvellous view of the Namma Metro. Superb Music. Spectacular Display of exquisite sheeshas. Nice Arrangement of blue and white colour scheme with lovely Potted plants providing greenery. Exuberant atmosphere. (8/10)

Service- Splendid. Though it is fast and efficient, can be improved a little to provide a better dining experience. Waiters have good knowledge yet should be more hospitable and courteous. Cutlery needs to be arranged on tables well in advance. Basement Parking Available. (7/10)

Pricing- Economical. Pocket Friendly with value for money. Not lacking in any parameters with impeccable Quantity and exemplary Quality it has become one of my favourite. A delightful experience overall. (7/10)

Brik Oven

Food- Incredible desserts and Phenomenal Shakes. Excellent Presentation. The Calorie Rich Chocolate Freak Shake is truly fantastic that  words Cannot describe. It is a remarkable chocolate milkshake topped with Vanilla Ice Cream,  Ferrero, Kit kat, Twix, Oreo, Peanut butter, Nutella, Chocolate Sauce, Waffles, Cookies etc . The Mini Freak shake served in a Nutella Jar is outstanding as well. As the name suggests it offers traditional smokey pizzas made over charcoal. Having heard a lot of praise about this restaurant, I had expected the limited dishes to be perfected and mastered in terms of flavour. However, my palate found the Pizzas are to be nothing exceptional or extraordinary. The Quattro Stagioni or 4 cheese pizza was salty and tasted pathetic. (7/10)

Service- Decent. Waiters take their own sweet time to attend. Though preparation time is fast, it varies depending on the rush. Table is not easily available. No Parking arrangements provided and is very difficult to find a spot among all the hustle and bustle of the crowd. It has all the advantages of being located at a prime hub in Church Street,  where all the fun and frolic is.  (6/10)

Ambience- Amazing. Marvellous Wallpaper. Beautiful menu on a blackboard. Impressive display of plants on a shelf. Live Open Kitchen with a spectacular ‘Brick Oven’. Air conditioned. Nevertheless, it’s a really small place that can accommodate only around 15 people. Seating is not very comfortable. Light music yet noisy atmosphere due to conversations of people in the compact arrangement. (7/10)

Pricing- Moderately Expensive. Pizzas are on the higher side and may not be affordable by all. One Freak Shake costs Rs. 500  freak shake but the quantity and ingredients are worth the amount. (6/10)

Zaica Dine & Wine

A Food Bloggers Meet (Reviewers Table) was organised by The Blue Beans Company at this lovely Restaurant located in Nagawara.

Food- Amazing. Lemon Chicken Tikka was fantastic. Murg Siya Mirchi Kebab was brilliant. Mocktails were splendid and refreshing. Murg Nawabi Gravy was outstanding. Dal Makhini is remarkable. Presentation is impressive. However the Indian breads were dry and tasteless. Sheek Kebab was average. Poor and Limited choice in desserts. Full marks on the starters. Appetizers ace through while the main course just manages to pass. The flavour of Tandoori murg Masala and Diwandi Handi can be improved. (7/10)

Ambience- Wonderful. Superb atmosphere. Nice lighting. Beautiful Wall Designs. Well spaced out seating arrangement. Nothing marvellous yet elegant and classy.  Comfortable Cushion Chairs and Air conditioning. (7/10)

Service- Excellent. Great hospitality. Waiters are Quick and courteous. Offers a delightful fine dining experience but can be much better and more efficient. Basement parking is available. (7/10)

Pricing- Economical. It is Pocket Friendly and offers value for money. A sumptuous and tantalising meal overall. (8/10)

Bombay Brasserie

Food- Had heard a lot about the restaurant but the taste of food is nothing exceptional or extraordinary. Quantity is less. Menu looks brilliant. Bombay Dabba Gosht is fantastic. Butter Roomali Roti is outstanding. Old Delhi Murg Tikka is remarkable. The Galawati kebab lacked flavour. Salli Chicken was average. Desserts are excellent. Some incredible factor that will create cravings to return is missing. (6/10)

Service- Splendid. Waiters are well trained, courteous and efficient. Though Valet parking is available, Stopping on the crowded Indiranagar main road is a problem. This place does not take reservations. Long waiting time for a table. (8/10)

Ambience- Marvellous. Superb Homely Villa Set up. Wonderful theme. Open Outdoor lawn as well as AC indoor seating available. Impressive lights. Beautiful wall posters. Spectacular arrangement. Exquisite furniture and lovely antique artefacts. Amazing flooring. Great music. (9/10)

Pricing- Expensive. Keeping in mind that this isn’t a five star hotel, even the simplest of dishes are overpriced. There is no value for money and leaves a hole in your pocket. However Ambience and location can serve as a justification for High Pricing. Delicious meal yet did not match expectations. (5/10)

Made In Punjab

Food- Incredible. Brilliant Appetizers/ Starters. Impressive Presentation. Superb and innovative menu. Mutton LOL Tikki is fantastic. Chicken Kurkuri is remarkable. Chicken Fharid Tikka is phenomenal.  Luxury Butter Chicken is Outstanding. Biryani had an excellent flavour. Splendid desserts: Jelabi with Rabdi.  (9/10)

Service- Decent. However it is a little slow. Waiters need better training to enhance efficiency during rush hours. Can be improved to provide a wonderful fine dining experience. UB City Basement Parking is Available. Reservations is recommended.  (6/10)

Ambiance- Amazing Ambience but a bit too hot due to central Air conditioning. Nothing marvellous yet an elegant and spectacular look. Comfortable Sofas. Well spaced out seating arrangement. Well furnished. Nicely equipped bar. Bright lighting. (7/10)

Pricing- Moderately High. Neither pocket friendly nor too expensive. I feel the quality and taste is worth the amount. Nevertheless pricing can be reduced to attract more diners. A delightful meal overall.  (8/10)

A Sneak Peak Into a Food Blogger Life

Everyone out there who are jealous about Food Bloggers and envy the different dishes they get to eat at various restaurants without having to pay or at a discount. It is NOT about the free food. It is about the restaurant investing in us for their benefit. It is an advantage for the restaurant because by spending a little, they get a lot of advertisement and publicity. They become popular on social media and many people get to know about the restaurant. Our followers become their regular customers.
1. We need to master Time Management. We have to keep switching between our personal life, work life and Blogging. We can’t accept each and every invite. We need to think whether we will be able to do the review and justice to it. Due to Studies or work load, many reviews are still pending for most bloggers. Some places even call and ask us the reason if it’s not put up within a week or so. We need to sit up late night or stay back at home on weekends to complete.

2. A lot of effort goes into blogging. Each Review takes at least 2-3 hours. That’s a single post. Imagine for 4-5 posts we need one whole day. It’s not easy publishing a blog post or even a Zomato Review. We have to do research about the restaurant and read what others have to say. Photos need to be cropped, brightness edited and also watermarked. We need to pen down our thoughts in Perfect English.

3. Some restaurants invite us expecting a good rating. Inspite of poor service and pathetic food, we avoid writing negative comments about it because of the request by the person organising the food Bloggers Meet Up. Even though we are completely honest in all our reviews that are based on true personal experience, we skip the bad ones and those are not reviewed many times. For anyone else who go as a normal customer, eat, pay and leave need not stress out about what they write online about the restaurant.

4. Yes of course invites are fun. But It’s better to relax and enjoy the meal with family or friends when you go on your own without any obligations of clicking photos etc. We are always thinking about the food, Ambience and service and what we can write apart from giving feedback and suggestions as well.

5. Traveling far distances in heavy traffic is another difficulty.
